WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Palm Beach Zoo has named an interim chief executive officer.

The zoo’s board has named Kathleen Breland to temporarily lead the zoo, replacing Andrew Aiken. He resigned in October after six years. He had been the CEO when a tiger attacked and killed zookeeper Stacy Konwiser in 2016.

Breland’s appointment was announced Tuesday. She joined the zoo in 2009 and became its chief operating officer in 2015.

The 50-year-old zoo gets more than 300,000 visitors annually.
