PLAINFIELD, N.J. — Police say a New Jersey man fatally stabbed his roommate after they had an argument on New Year’s Eve.

Plainfield police say the 23-year-old Plainfield man is charged with murder in the death of 43-year-old Alejandros Cadena-Toapanta. NJ.com reports police responded to the scene around midnight on New Year’s Eve where they found Cadena-Toapanta on the front lawn of his residence suffering multiple injuries.

He was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The suspect was taken into custody without incident on Monday.
