HOLLADAY, Utah — Police say three children were injured in the Salt Lake City suburb of Holladay after one of the children threw gasoline on a fire pit outside a home.

Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke told The Deseret News that an 8-year-old child was hospitalized with facial burns in critical condition Sunday night. The other two children ages 7 and 13 had non-life-threatening injuries and were considered to be in good condition.

Police told KUTV that one of the children didn’t think the fire was large enough and poured gasoline on the flames.

Fire authorities say it appears to be an accident and adults who were present won’t face charges.
