<strong>ALPHA TRANSITIONAL CARE, 4455 Southport Crossing Way</strong>, Indianapolis, seeking volunteers to work with hospice patients, hospice volunteers offer companionship and/or respite to the caregiver. Volunteers do activities with patients such as solving puzzles, playing cards or sitting quietly by the bedside as the patient shares stories. <strong>KIC-IT</strong> (KIDS IN CRISIS — INTERVENTION TEAM) is a non-profit organization that serves the homeless and at risk youth ages 16 to 25 in Johnson County. KIC-IT seeks to combat homelessness and promote independence by providing a network of support and empowerment to the youth of our community. Volunteers are needed to council clients, help around Drop in Center, and/or volunteer at our various events or fundraisers. <strong>LORD’S CUPBOARD</strong>, 606 Banta St., Franklin, needs volunteers of all ages throughout the year. Good opportunity for high school and college students to complete service hours as well as a way for adults to be involved in the community. Volunteers are needed to help sort, clean, organize and display merchandise. Income generated through merchandise sales supports scholarships for Johnson County students. The Lord’s Cupboard also assists those with referrals from recognized local service organizations and ministries. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. <strong>MEADOWSTONE THERAPEUTIC RIDING CENTER</strong>, needs volunteers 16 and older to assist with horseback riding lessons for children with disabilities. Volunteer positions include horse leaders, sidewalkers with the children and office work. Volunteers work one hour per week for a six-week commitment. The center, 5309 S. <strong>MEALS ON WHEELS</strong>, volunteers are wanted for the Greenwood area program to provide home-delivered meals to residents in the greater Greenwood area; openings include billing of clients for meal service, drivers to deliver the meals, assistance to the president, and people willing to serve on the board of Greenwood Meals on Wheels. If you, or someone you may know, would be willing to volunteer, call the office at 317-882-2424. Anyone who needs meals may also call. Meals are available for delivery Monday through Friday at midday. The cost of each meal is $4.25. Consideration is given to subsidizing the cost according to income

<strong>OASIS TUTORING PROGRAM</strong>, program in Greenwood elementary schools provides a tutor for children referred by their teachers. Tutors age 50 or over meet with that child at least one hour a week to bring care, support and academic assistance. No educational background is required as training is provided for all new tutors.
