Woman killed in crash on 135

A woman died following a crash on State Road 135 in Greenwood last week.

Brinda Sriramkumar, 51, from Bloomington and India, died from her injuries. Three other passengers in the two-vehicle crash were injured.

Shruthi Sriramkumar, 27, of Bloomington, attempted to make a left turn onto State Road 135 about 7:50 p.m. Saturday from a parking lot on the east side of the road, south of Stonegate Drive. When Sriramkumar pulled out, her vehicle was hit on the driver’s side door by a car being driven north on State Road 135 by Anjelykan Besso, 20, of Plainfield, a Greenwood Police Department report said.

Shruthi Sriramkumar told police that she hadn’t seen Besso’s car prior to attempting the turn, the report said.

Three passengers in Srirakumar’s car, Brinda Sriramkumar; Sriramkumar Srinivasan, 58; and a 12-year-old girl, all listed in the crash report as being from Bloomington, were taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital for treatment. A passenger in Besso’s car, Aspen Besso, 23, of Indianapolis, complained of chest pain but wasn’t taken to a hospital for treatment, the report said.

Brinda Sriramkumar died before arriving at the hospital, the report said.

According to her obituary, Brinda Sriramkumar was from Mumbai, India, where she had worked for Reliance Industries LTD for 27 years.
