Home damaged in holiday fire

A home south of Franklin was damaged in a Christmas Day fire, but the one resident home at the time was not injured.

A fire started in a house in the 3000 block of East County Road 150S at about 11:15 a.m. on Dec. 25, Amity Fire Chief Jack Brockman said.

The fire began in the kitchen before spreading into the walls and up into the attic, causing severe damage inside the home, he said.

The Amity Fire Department, with assistance from the Franklin, Needham, Nineveh, Whiteland and Trafalgar departments, put out the fire in about 45 minutes, Brockman said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said.
