BATON ROUGE, La. — A teenager and man were shot in Louisiana during a family brawl stemming from a domestic dispute.

News outlets report 24-year-old James McManus Jr. was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property in connection with the Sunday night shooting. A 14-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The probable cause report from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man and his wife got into an argument, and the woman contacted her relatives, claiming abuse. The relatives arrived at her house to confront the man, which led to a fight in the street.

McManus, who’s related to the woman, told investigators he fired toward the ground in self-defense.
