Juanita Van Atta

Juanita Van Atta, 92, passed away on Sunday morning, December 24, 2017, at the Otterbein Senior Life Franklin Community. She was a resident of Bargersville.

Juanita was born on December 8, 1925, in Ellettsville, Indiana, to George and Erie (Smithers) Still. She married Wayne Van Atta on March 24, 1946. He preceded her in passing on January 2, 1998. She is survived by daughter, Terry (John) Armes of Bargersville; son, Gary Van Atta of Florida; granddaughters, Shelby Bleke and Mandy (Greg) Hurrle; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzee (Sam) O’Keefe and Emma, Ethan and Ella Hurrle.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband Wayne; brother, James Still; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Van Atta.

She was a graduate of Ellettsville High School.

Juanita worked at Indiana Bell and at Herff-Jones. She later was employed at Danner’s, retiring after many years of service.

A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held on Thursday, December 28, at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Wednesday, December 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bluff Creek Cemetery.
