COLCHESTER, Vt. — A Vermont woman is recovering after sliding down a steep embankment while searching for her lost dog.

New England Cable News reports that Nicole Stowell of Colchester tumbled about 150 feet into a ravine on Monday, injuring her ankle and leg. Colchester fire and rescue officials set up ropes and a pulley system to hoist her to safety.

Stowell had been searching for her dog, Thor, an English Mastiff who has been missing since Saturday night when he ran off after getting hit by a car on Route 15.
