VASS, N.C. — Authorities say a woman has died in a Christmas fire at a home in North Carolina.

Moore County fire officials say firefighters found a woman and a dog dead inside the home near Vass as they fought the blaze around 2 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say firefighters saw smoke coming from the two-story home when they arrived.

The name of the woman has not been released, and an autopsy has been ordered to determine her cause of death.
