Johnson County gets big energy rebate
Johnson County Board of Commissioners received a rebate check from Duke Energy for their efforts to make the county courthouse and annex more energy efficient.
The rebate of $52,054 was part of an effort to be more energy efficient, including savings improvements such as LED lighting, energy-efficient control systems and HVAC upgrades to the Johnson County Courthouse and Annex.
Nineveh bank has new branch manager
A Franklin native was named the new branch manager of the Mutual Savings Bank in Nineveh.
Sally Wells was given the bank branch’s top post.
Wells, a Franklin native, began her banking career right out of high school, 40 years ago. She has spent the last 19 years with First Merchants Bank as regional market leader and banking center manager. She is an active member of Fair Haven Christian Church, where she teaches Sunday school and serves as a youth leader.
She also is involved with United Way, Habitat for Humanity and the Franklin Chamber.
Franklin alumni earns award for leadership
Franklin native Michael D. Martin has received the 2017 Jess R. Lucas Alumni Leadership Award, recognizing a former member of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s residence life staff for distinguished career achievements.
Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Rose-Hulman in 2004 and added a master’s degree in engineering management in 2011.
Martin, a 2000 graduate of Franklin Community High school, is the son of Richard and Macie Martin of Franklin.
He works as an Appirio account executive and Salesforce MVP in Indianapolis. He was one of the first employees for Appirio’s Indianapolis operations in 2011, and became an account executive in 2016 after working as a solution architect, technical team lead, consultant and project manager. His technical skills have been useful as a cloud professional and consultative engineer, with experience in information technology management. He also has experience in software engineering, sales, marketing and customer service processes.
