LANCASTER, S.C. — A man has been arrested in the shooting death of another man in northern South Carolina.

Attorney Doug Barfield with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Friday afternoon that 28-year-old Dequavis Laquail Blackmon of Lancaster has been arrested and is being charged with the shooting death of 34-year-old Antwan James of Lancaster.

Deputies were called to a home in Lancaster around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Two women at the home told deputies that Blackmon appeared from around the side of the house and began shooting at a vehicle that James was inside. James got out of the car and tried to run away and Blackmon continued to fire.

An autopsy was being performed Monday.

It was not known if Blackmon has an attorney.
