TRENTON, N.J. — Police in New Jersey say a man who was injured in a crash and later died had also been shot.

NJ.com reports the crash happened around 6 p.m. Thursday in Trenton. Police say Brian Ficzko drove into a utility pole and another car before coming to a rest.

The 40-year-old Flemington man was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment where doctors discovered he had sustained a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.

It’s not clear where or why Ficzko was shot, though Mercer County prosecutors said Friday that “no other crime scenes have been located.” They say the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
