Marvin W. Barker, 76, of Dickson, Tennessee, passed away December 18, 2017 at Tri-Star Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. He was born September 1, 1941 in Christine, Kentucky. He was the son of Arthur L. and Ollie (Burton) Barker. He married Marilyn (Flanagan) Barker.
He is survived by his wife, sons, Arlon (Jodi) Barker of Fort Myers, Florida, Eric Barker of Orlando, Florida, and Andy (Jo) Barker of Edinburgh. Indiana, daughters, Kelly (Tony) Retherford of Lake Wales, Florida, Kathy Barker of McEwen, Tennessee, and Crystal Benware of McEwen, Tennessee, brothers, Johnie (Debby) Barker of Edinburgh, Indiana and Calvin (Inge) Barker of Edinburgh, Indiana, sister, Sally Barker of McMinnville, Tennessee, fourteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Troy Benware, two grandchildren, brothers, Verlon, Arlon, Donald, and Orlie Barker, sisters, Delcie Branigin, Velma Keller, Verda Lovett, and Kathy King.
He enjoyed spending time with family, his dogs, playing his guitar, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 23, 2017 by Reverend Lewis Burton at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh, Indiana. Calling will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, December 22 at the church and from 11:00 AM until time of service on Saturday. Burial will be at Rest Have Cemetery in Edinburgh.
