Edwin “Ed” Eugene Parsley

Edwin Eugene “Ed” Parsley, 85, passed away on Monday, December 18th, 2017 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on June 29, 1932 in Franklin to Orval and Gladys (Chandler) Parsley. He married Marjorie L. (Koons) Parsley on December 24, 1953. Ed is survived by their son Edwin E. Parsley, II (Denise) of Franklin; daughter, Sandy Sue Parsley McClellan(Keith) of Effingham, South Carolina; grandson, Joshua Parsley (Martha) of Austin, Indiana; granddaughter, Kyla Brown (Bennett) of Florence, South Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Keely Ana Parsley, Aubrey and Colton Blair Parsley. He was preceded in passing by his parents, daughter, Teresa Jo Parsley, wife Marjorie; grandson, Blair Justin Parsley and brother, Walter Parsley.

Ed was a 1950 graduate of Franklin High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Indiana Business College. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He served in the artillery, receiving the National Defense Service Medal.

At the time he and Marjorie were married, Ed was employed with Graham Lumber Company in Franklin as a foreman. He worked then for Indiana Public Service for several years, and retired from General Motors Truck and Bus as an Area Supervisor after twenty-six years of dedicated service.

He was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church and a Mason for over fifty years. He was also a member of the VFW.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Friday, December 22nd at noon at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Friday, December 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to time of service at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
