BEND, Ore. — Strong winds battered Bend, leaving many homes and businesses without power.
KTVZ reports wind gusts exceeded 40 mph Tuesday, and northeast Bend appeared to be the hardest-hit area.
Police, fire crews and utility workers scrambled to block streets that had downed trees and power poles. One tree toppled onto a house and another snapped near its base, narrowly missing a car. Downed lines sparked a small brushfire.
There were no reports of injuries.
Pacific Power reported around 1 p.m. that nearly 1,900 customers had lost power on Bend’s north side, with scattered outages elsewhere.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory through 7 p.m. Tuesday.
