HIGH POINT, N.C. — A grand jury in North Carolina has handed down indictments against six people in the death of a 74-year-old woman who was shot and killed in the front yard of her home.

The High Point Enterprise reports the six are charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Josie Lindsay on March 21.

Police said the shooting was the result of a feud between rival gangs, and Lindsay was not the intended target. On the day of the shooting, police said two cars drove down a street and turned around. A man who was at Lindsay’s home saw the two cars and fired at them, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

In all, seven people, including a 14-year-old boy, are charged in the case.
