TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson police say they have arrested a man suspected of stealing a car while a toddler was sitting in the back seat.

The Arizona Daily Star reports police recovered the 2-year-old boy who was left in the car as his mother ran to their apartment to get her laptop on Monday.

They say the boy was unharmed and has been reunited with his mother.

Tucson Police Department spokesman Pete Dugan says the driver led officers on a chase before he left the vehicle and ran away.

Police later found the boy wandering the streets by himself.

Dugan says they’ve arrested a 20-year-man on suspicion of kidnapping, child abuse, auto theft and burglary.
