Girls tennis

Lancers advance to title match

Edinburgh earned its way into the final of the Columbus North Sectional by pulling out a 3-2 victory over Columbus East on Thursday. Annelise Lollar and Bethany Burton were straight-set winners at first and second singles, while Alyssa Funkhouser and Peyton Bryant picked up a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 1 doubles.

The Lancers will face fifth-ranked Columbus North in today’s championship match.

Royals advance in sectional

Roncalli won its first-round match against Beech Grove, 5-0.

Baseball

Trojans edged by Bull Dogs

In a matchup of top-three teams, Class 4A No. 3 Center Grove suffered a narrow 3-2 setback at second-ranked Columbus North on Thursday. Owen Guilfoy had a two-run double for the Trojans (24-4).

Olympians outslug Franklin

Jackson Henry had a home run and five RBIs, but Franklin couldn’t quite keep pace with Columbus East in an 11-7 road loss.

Softball

Grizzly Cubs roar past Owls

Franklin broke a tie with eight runs over the last two innings to pull away from Seymour, 11-3, on Thursday. Corin Dammeier and Macy Hussung each had two RBIs for the Grizzly Cubs (17-9), while Izzy Harrison struck out 14 over six hitless innings.

Royals blank Bulldogs

Keagan Rothrock pitched a perfect game, striking out 11, as Roncalli rolled past Brownsburg by a 10-0 score. Kaelin Cash and Kylie Freije each hit a home run for the Class 4A No. 2 Royals (23-2), while Chloe Parks and Caroline Leister drove in two runs apiece.

Boys golf

Cougars top Braves

Greenwood Christian defeated Indian Creek at Smock on Thursday, 169-183. Braxton Christie (40) and Clark Haywood (41) had the low rounds for the Braves.

Warriors drop three-way

Whiteland fell short in a match against Franklin Central and Decatur Central at Smock, posting a team score of 206. Will Davis was the low man for the Warriors with a 40.
