Jane Corrie Jones

INDIANAPOLIS

Born the youngest child of Charles and Ocal Corrie near Greenwood on January 3, 1927, Jane Jones passed from this world to God’s eternity on December 8, 2017.

She was married to Major Cecil Roy Jones in 1946, and they have six children: Roy (Joy), Janet Logan (Russ), Dr. Tom (Karilyn), Deb Kite (Bert), Chris (Paula), and Jeff (Corina).

As the children of a US Army officer, they lived in Europe and various parts of the US. Upon Major Jones retirement, the family returned to Greenwood in 1962, where she resided in the large historic two story home on Main Street for the next 50 years. Her husband Roy died in 1985.

Jane was a wonderful Mother and preparer of large family dinners, sometimes feeding nearly fifty family members at a single meal. In addition, Jane loved to dance, she was an exceptional bridge player, euchre enthusiast, and a dedicated member of Psi Iota Psi sorority. She was a lifelong member of Greenwood United Methodist Church.

She leaves this world better than she found it, especially through her love of her family and flowers, since she worked many years for Flowers by George in Greenwood, where her sister Becky also worked. She was predeceased by her siblings Lucille Koelliker, May McCartney, Charles Corrie, and Becky Tinkle, as well as one great-grandchild.

In addition to her six children, she is survived by 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory – Greenwood Chapel at 11AM on Thursday, December 14th. Friends may visit with the family at the mortuary on Wednesday, December 13th from 4-8pm.
