Man arrested after hit-and-run

A Franklin man was arrested after police say he left after a crash that injured two teens on State Road 135.

Ray Fox, 38, was arrested on a charge of failing to stop after an accident.

Fox was driving east on County Road 300S at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday when he drove through a stop sign, hitting a sport-utility vehicle going south on State Road 135, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Trevor Gregory, 18, of Morgantown, and a teenage passenger were taken to a hospital for treatment, the report said. Their conditions were not available on Monday.

After the crash, Fox drove away. A deputy later found a car that matched a witness’ description and had damage from a crash in a parking lot more than a mile away along County Road 300S, and then found Fox walking along the road nearby, the report said. Fox initially denied being the driver of the car, but later told deputies that he had been driving, the report said.

Fox, 1450 Franklin Place Court, was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $2,000 bond.
