Man reports armed robbery

Police are investigating after a man reported being robbed at gunpoint in Franklin.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, a man told police he and his son were unloading a trailer in the 900 block of Johnson Avenue. A man on a bike asked him for money to buy coffee, according to a news release from the Franklin Police Department.

When he pulled out his wallet, the man on the bike pulled out a gun and took more than $200 in cash and other items and then left, the release said.

“The guy was going to do him a favor and give him some money for coffee and ends up being robbed,” Franklin Police Chief Tim O’Sullivan said.

The suspect is described as being 25 to 35 years old, 5-feet-6-inches, with a beard, and was wearing a black sweatshirt, black jacket and dark-colored pants, the release said.

Investigators are looking for surveillance cameras in the area, talking to neighbors and seeking the public’s help in finding the man who committed the robbery, O’Sullivan said.
