Car crashes into Edinburgh home

A woman was taken to the hospital after her husband accidentally drove their vehicle into their Edinburgh home.

Just before 2 p.m. Dec. 5, police were called to a home in the 200 block of Newbury Court South. Harry W. Shomaker, 75, told police he was waiting in the vehicle while his wife was inside the home. His foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas pedal, causing the vehicle to drive into their home, according to the Edinburgh Police Department report.

His wife, Barbara Shomaker, 77, was inside the home, sitting in a chair. She told emergency workers she was OK, but she was taken to the hospital to be checked, the report said.

Harry Shomaker also told emergency workers he was not injured, the report said.
