Trojans take down Pike

Center Grove coasted to a 60-15 triumph against Pike on Wednesday.

Sam Hesser (152 pounds), Gleason Mappes (160) and Jonah Hays (170) won by pin for the Trojans, while Sam Howe (138) and Julius Byrd (182) also earned victories on the mat.

Girls Basketball

Cougars roll to easy win

Three players finished in double figures as Greenwood Christian strolled to a 60-4 victory against Central Christian on Tuesday night.

Alexis Mead finished with 14 points for the Cougars (5-4), who led 40-0 at halftime. Abigail Muck scored 13 and Sarah Mangan added 12.

Softball

Whiteland star picks Wesleyan

Senior catcher Madison Margraf, an all-county catcher last season for Whiteland, signed a letter of intent Wednesday to continue her playing career at Indiana Wesleyan.

Margraf batted .415 with three home runs, 18 RBIs and 20 runs scored last spring.

Tennis

Rebels hire new coach

Chad Stone was hired as Roncalli’s new boys and girls tennis coach Tuesday. A former All-State player at Center Grove, where he won the state doubles championship in 1997, Stone played at Indiana University for two years. He was previously the head coach at Jennings County from 2008 to 2010.

Franklin College

Men’s basketball prevails in OT

After allowing Anderson to force overtime with a late rally, the Franklin College men held strong in the extra period for a 100-98 road win Wednesday night.

Freshman Danny Goggans racked up 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Grizzlies (2-5, 1-1 HCAC), while Kale Morris added 18 points. Three other Franklin players — Jordan Anderson (14 points), Sam Gutierrez (13) and John Beineke (13) — scored in double figures.

The Grizzlies visit Defiance on Saturday.
