JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. — A man has been arrested in the stabbing death of a man on a South Carolina island.

Charleston County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Johns Island around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses told investigators a suspect entered the home and began stabbed the victim several times while he was in bed. Witnesses said the attack and victim knew each other.

The man’s name has not been released.

Thirty-four-year-old Aloysius Hunter of Johnson Island has been arrested and charged with murder. Hunter to be in court Thursday. It was not known if he has an attorney yet.

Sheriff’s Maj. Eric Watson said investigators have not determined a motive for the stabbing.
