Preston L. Lucas

FRANKLIN

Preston L. Lucas, 82, passed away on Monday evening, December 4th, 2017 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born on February 28th, 1935 in Yosemite, Kentucky to Lucian Bruce and Gladys Marie (Hogue) Lucas. He married Alice (Smith) Cox on November 8th, 1997. She lovingly survives. Preston is also survived by children, Debra (Bruce) Williams of Franklin; Sherry (Rusty Pye) Stainbrook of Franklin and Mark (John O’Dell) Lucas of North Carolina; step-sons, Gregory (Julie) Cox of Greenwood and Gary Cox of Franklin; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Floyd Lucas; Stanley (Frieda) Lucas and Bruce (Linda) Lucas; one sister, Millie (Bill) Wiedenhaupt and sister-in-law, Hazel Welch. He was preceded in passing by his parents, wife, Doris (McClain) Lucas, daughter, Judy Lucas, brothers, Glancy and Dallas Lucas and sister, Barbara Wilson.

He attended school in Nineveh.

Preston was a skilled carpenter and worked for the Carpenter’s Local Union 301 for several years, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of Victory Christian Church. Preston enjoyed playing billiards and horseshoes and also enjoyed playing shuffleboard in Franklin and also in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Rev. Josh Cadwell will conduct a celebration of Preston’s life on Friday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Thursday, December 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
