Girls Basketball

Roncalli advances in tourney

In the opening round of the Marion County Tournament, Roncalli pulled out a 55-53 victory against Warren Central on Tuesday. The Rebels host Lutheran in a Thursday quarterfinal.


Braves sweep Rebels

Indian Creek’s girls improved to 8-0 on the year with a 120-63 victory against Roncalli on Tuesday night. The Braves also won the boys meet 102-73.

Woodmen swept by Falcons

Greenwood came up short in a dual meet against Perry Meridian, with the girls falling by a 98-88 margin and the boys losing 122-61.

Grace Nuhfer won the 100-yard butterfly and the 200 individual medley for the girls. Also taking individual wins for the Woodmen were Faith Jackson (1-meter diving), Alex Wilson (100 backstroke) and Samantha Loudermilk (100 breaststroke). Nuhfer, Wilson, Loudermilk and Ava Leininger won the medley relay.

Greenwood’s boys were led by two victories from Clyde Vaught (50 and 100 freestyle). Jake Johnson was first in diving.


Warriors handle Shelbyville

Whiteland dominated the higher weight classes in a 54-23 victory against Shelbyville on Tuesday.

Brett Krenner (152 pounds), Peyton Russell (160), Ryan Glithero (170), Isaiah Hurt (182), Ryan Hammond (220) and Garrett Curtis (285) all won by pin for the Warriors. Aaron Adkins (113), Seth Wassman (120) and Kobie King (138) also defeated their opponents handily.

Braves thump Eagles

Indian Creek dominated Western Indiana Conference rival Brown County on Tuesday 59-6. Brad Trietsch, Owen Sego, Tony Hall and Cameron Elmore all won by pin, while Jarrod Snyder, Trent Watkins, Bryce Woods, Alex Tran and Grant Goforth also earned victories.

Boys Basketball

Cougars pull away for win

Kegan Owen scored a game-high 22 points to lead Greenwood Christian to a 67-45 win against Bethesda Christian on Monday night.

Champ McCorkle added 16 points for the Cougars (1-3). Payton Modlin (12 points) and Elliott Murray (11) also scored in double figures.
