<strong>Assisted living center plans open house</strong>

An assisted living center is opening its doors to show off their holiday decorations.

Morning Pointe of Franklin, 75 S. Milford Drive, Franklin, is conducting an open house 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 13.

Guests will be able to tour the decorated community, vote on their favorite door decorations and take home a holiday dessert.

<strong>Store celebrates opening in Prince’s Lakes today</strong>

A bargain retailer will celebrate the grand opening of a new store in the southern part of the county today.

Dollar General recently opened at 8846. Nineveh Road, Nineveh. The store’s official grand opening is 8 a.m. today.

The first 50 adult shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag with complimentary product samples, among other giveaways.

<strong>Area financial planner featured speaker</strong>

A Johnson County-based financial planner was a featured speaker at an industry meeting.

Janette F. Koon was recently a featured speaker for the 2017 Waddell &amp; Reed Midwest Cluster Meeting at Belterra. The meeting focused on trends in financial planning practices, investment updates, long-term care issues and health care costs and Social Security strategies in retirement.

Koon has been a professional in the financial services industry for more than 20 years, serving individuals and families throughout the Johnson County community. She affiliated with Waddell &amp; Reed in 1993.
