Principal named interim superintendent

Edinburgh schools will have a new leader starting next year.

Superintendent William Glentzer is retiring, and Kevin Rockey, high school and middle school principal, will take over as interim superintendent.

Rockey will take over after Christmas break, and will lead the school district’s 862 students and 70 teachers until a new superintendent is named, he said.

The goal is to have a new superintendent hired before the next school year, he said. School board members plan to begin their search in late winter or early spring, he said.

Rockey has served as interim superintendent twice before, he said.
