LIBERTY, S.C. — A man has been arrested and charged with shooting into a house in South Carolina where one of the victims later died.

Anderson County sheriff’s deputies were called to a shooting in Liberty around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies found one man had been shot in the chest and another person was shot in the leg.

Anderson County deputy Coroner Don McCown told local media outlets that 30-year-old Christopher Albert Burton died during surgery Tuesday afternoon at Greenville Memorial Hospital. An autopsy was planned Thursday.

There was no immediate word on the other person’s condition.

Ryan Christopher Ballard of Easley was arrested and initially charged with two counts of attempted murder. There was no word yet on whether he has an attorney.
