KIRKLAND, Ariz. — Authorities say a California couple remains hospitalized with serious injuries after a head-on crash involving two vehicles in north-central Arizona.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say 76-year-old Patty Tarullo and her 78-year-old husband Darryl Tarullo were passengers in the SUV that was involved in the collision Monday afternoon north of Kirkland.

They say the driver of a van — identified as 61-year-old Michael Morgan of Kirkland — also is hospitalized in serious condition in the Phoenix area.

The 34-year-old driver of the SUV wasn’t seriously hurt.

Sheriff’s officials say the crash remains under investigation, but it appears the van crossed the road’s center stripe into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason.
