Annual Rotary hog roast scheduled

The Franklin Rotary Club’s annual Jim Rhoades Memorial Hog Roast will be Thursday at the Johnson County fairgrounds in Franklin.

Lunch runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The meal is free, but donations will be accepted at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Johnson County Good Cheer Fund and Interchurch Food Pantry.

Dine in or carry out will be available.

Catering will be provided by Malone Catering in Greenwood. Other businesses and organizations providing services include Indian Creek FFA, Monarch Beverage, Petro’s Culligan, Nimble Thimble Quilt Club, JP Parker Florists, Franklin Community Band and the Daily Journal.

The event is in honor of Franklin resident Jim Rhoades, who started the event 19 years ago. Rhoades, a Franklin Rotary Club member, owned Rhoades True Value Hardware in Franklin and was a former Johnson County commissioner.
