GABRIELS, N.Y. — Police are investigating the cause of a one-vehicle crash in the Adirondacks on Thanksgiving Day that has claimed the life of a local woman.
Authorities in Franklin County say the crash occurred Thursday afternoon on Route 55 between the hamlet of Gabriels and Bloomingdale in neighboring Essex County.
Witnesses say the road was icy when the car left the road and sheered a utility pole in half before coming to rest on its roof.
The county coroner told the Adirondack Daily Enterprise that the woman was from Bloomingdale. Her name was being withheld until her family could be notified.
State police are investigating.
