New member needed for Prince’s Lakes Town Council

The county Republican Party is conducting a caucus to name a new member of the Prince’s Lakes Town Council.

A new member is needed because at-large town council member George Smeltzer resigned Nov. 7 because he moved, party chairwoman Beth Boyce said. The caucus is set for 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Prince’s Lakes Town Hall, 14 E. Lakeview Drive.

Indiana law says that the precinct committee members select the new town council member from eligible applicants. In this case, one precinct committee person will select the next town council member.

Any Prince’s Lakes town resident who would like to serve on the town council for the rest of Smeltzer’s term, through Dec. 31, 2019, should send Boyce a letter at 845 Richart Lane, Greenwood, IN 46142. The letter should be postmarked by 7 p.m. Dec. 4.
