HOPEWELL, Va. — Police in a Virginia town are looking for a man who set the city’s holiday tree on fire.

Authorities in Hopewell say firefighters were called to the Ashford Civic Plaza about 7:30 a.m. Thursday for the fire. The blaze was quickly put out, and only a small part of the tree was damaged.

WWBT reports that police are looking for man who was seen nearby.

Interim City Manager Charles Dane says the “Light Up the Night” holiday event at the plaza will be held as scheduled on Dec. 3.
