Residents collecting cards for Maine family

A freshman at Franklin Community High School and her big sister through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program are spearheading an effort to make sure a family gets Christmas cards in remembrance of their little boy.

Sally Hood and her little sister, Tabitha Farmer, heard the story of a 9-year-old in Maine who wanted nothing but Christmas cards for Christmas.

The duo originally were collecting cards for the little boy. However, he has since died, and now they are collecting cards to send to his family.

“My little sister and I took it upon ourselves to see how many cards we can get from Franklin,” Hood said.

The pair will send the cards to the family Friday.

Residents wanting to drop off a Christmas card can drop it at Morning Pointe Assisted Living, 75 S. Milford Drive, Franklin.
