TAMPA, Fla. — Stephan Jiggetts scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds as South Florida beat Howard 75-52 on Wednesday night.
Jiggetts was 5 of 9 from the field including four 3-pointers for the Bulls (3-2). Payton Banks added 14 points and Tulio Da Silva had 10 points and six rebounds. The team averaged 45 percent shooting from the field compared to 33 percent for Howard.
After a slow start, Jiggetts and Banks combined for a pair of 3-pointers to spark a 13-0 run that gave South Florida a 29-16 lead with 4:04 remaining in the first half on its way to a 36-24 advantage at the break.
The Bulls opened the second half on a 20-6 surge that included 3-pointers by Banks, Jiggetts and Justin Brown and two dunks by Malik Martin to lead 56-30 with 11:58 to play.
RJ Cole scored 17 points with six assists for the winless Bison (0-6). Charles Williams added 15 points and led with five rebounds.
