Greenwood man arrested after fight

A man was arrested after a fight in Greenwood that sent one person to the hospital.

Levi Alexander Hayes Doan, 18, was arrested on charges of battery causing moderate injury, possession of alcohol by a minor and aggravated battery.

Greenwood police were called to a home near the intersection of Main Street and Madison Avenue early Sunday where someone reported a fight and a man with a knife. Officers stopped a van leaving the area, and the driver and passengers told police Doan had begun fighting people and swinging a knife, the report said. At least two people said they had been injured by Doan, the report said.

Officers then spoke with Doan, who lives in the area, who told them he did not have a knife and that he had fought with three men who came to his house for money and then attacked him, the report said.

One of the men that said Doan punched him went to Community Hospital South for treatment and was diagnosed with a broken eye socket that will require reconstructive surgery, the man’s father told police.

Doan, 100 W. Main St., was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail where he was released on $18,200 bond.
