Center Grove approves purchase of road, storage facility

The Center Grove school board approved spending about $270,000 to construct a road and 4,000-square-foot storage facility for maintenance equipment.

Current storage space for maintenance supplies and equipment is filling up, and the school district needs more storage space, assistant superintendent Bill Long said.

The storage facility would be constructed on land the school owns near Center Grove’s transportation and maintenance facilities along Whiteland Road, south of Maple Grove Elementary School.

A new road would connect the new building to the current facilities and also provide room for additional parking for buses as needed, Long said.

The money is coming from a previous loan the school board had approved for equipment and maintenance projects, Long said.
