Joan Fahl

FRANKLIN

Joan (Plummer) Fahl passed away peacefully at 8:30 p.m., November 14, 2017, at Otterbein in Franklin, Indiana, where she was a resident.

Joan was a long time member of the United Methodist Church. She was active in the UMW for many years; and helped refinish and paint the doors at White Creek UMC. She earned a bible, as a child, for perfect attendance at Sunday school for one year. She is a member of Trafalgar United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed buying and displaying antiques. She especially liked refinishing antique furniture, restoring its original beauty. She attended auctions, antique shops, and estate sales to find good antiques. Joan had a shop in antique malls in Seymour and Morgantown Indiana.

Joan was an accomplished seamstress and made many hand stitched quilts, winning a special blue ribbon on the first one, at the Bartholomew County 4H fair. She made many costumes for Sunday school classes and her niece’s school projects. Late one evening her niece came to her and asked for a school costume. Sure, when do you need it? I need it in the morning. It was ready for her the next morning.

She also served as a volunteer at Area 11 Aging & Community Services in Columbus.

Joan was employed at J C Penney, Inc. in Columbus for 15 years, starting in alterations and retiring as supervisor of catalog and credit departments. She attended various seminars in Chicago and St. Louis.

She passed peacefully, and was surrounded by the people, she loved the most–her husband, son, granddaughter, loving niece and name sake, Vicki Jo Marsh, along with her great niece, Shey Northcutt.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community-Wright Memorial Chapel, with Rev. David Mark Owens officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Born in Columbus on December 6, 1930, Joan was the daughter of Walter and Eunice (Lawver) Plummer. She married Norman Fahl on November 27, 1974.

Survivors include; her husband of 43 years, Norman; her son, Donald C.
