RIVERSIDE, Calif. — A pedestrian was struck and injured by a police car in the city of Riverside.

The Riverside Police Department says the accident occurred at 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

A police statement says a 25-year-old man stepped off a center divider and into the path of the patrol vehicle.

The man was in critical but stable condition after being transported to Riverside Community Hospital.

Investigators are looking for the driver of a minivan that was traveling near the police vehicle at the time.
