HAMDEN, Conn. — Police say a teenager found suffering from multiple gunshots wounds near a recreational trail in Connecticut has died.

Eighteen-year-old Leeandre Benton was found bear the Farmington Canal Trail in Hamden at about 4 p.m. Monday.

He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven with life-threatening injuries and police say he died at the hospital on Wednesday.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive and have not announced an arrest. Hamden police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact them.

The trail is part of an 84-mile network of paths for walkers, runners, bikers and in-line skaters that extends into Massachusetts.
