BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A former Southern California firefighter who killed his lover’s husband has been sentenced to more than 25 years in prison.

The Redlands Daily Facts reports that Jonathan Heard apologized for the killing and said he was “broken-hearted” during his sentencing Thursday in Kern County.

The 27-year-old Hesperia man pleaded guilty in January to voluntary manslaughter for shooting the husband of his former girlfriend, Sabrina Limon of Helendale.

Robert Limon was found dead in 2014 at a Tehachapi railway building where he worked.

Hearn, a former Redlands firefighter, testified against Limon as part of a plea agreement. She was convicted last month of murder and other crimes.
