Gilbert David Vanderpohl

GREENSBURG

Gilbert David Vanderpohl, 89, of Greensburg, passed away on November 12, 2017. Gilbert was born on April 20, 1928 the son of John and Helen Blankman Vanderpohl.

On November 6, 1954 he married Barbara Ann Hausman and she preceded him in death on August 26, 1982. Gilbert was a carpenter. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Survivors include: Son- Gerald “Jerry” (Debbie) Vanderpohl of Greensburg; Daughter- Julie (Mike) Deer of Greenwood; Grandchildren- Christy (Brad) Woehler, Melissa (Eric) Wade, Matthew David (Abby) Vanderpohl, Shelby Deer, Barbara Deer, Matthew Deer, Joseph Deer, Jacob Deer, and Jessica Deer; Great Grandchildren- Zoe Wade, Emily Wade, Carson Woehler, Oliver Woehler, Mason Vanderpohl, and Jaxon Vanderpohl; Sisters- Dorothy (Charles) Land, Marilyn Preston, and Elizabeth Schroeder; Brother- Vernon Vanderpohl. He was preceded in death by: his Parents; Wife- Barbara Vanderpohl; Sisters- Evelyn Theising, Florine Owen, Joan Vanderpohl, and Esther Abbott; Brothers- Irvin Vanderpohl, Clifford Vanderpohl, John Vanderpohl, and Donald Vanderpohl.

A Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Gilliland Howe Funeral Home followed by visitation for family and friends until 8:00 pm. Visitation will also be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 9:30 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Father John Meyer will be officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
