Benjamin T. Rouse

INDIANAPOLIS

Benjamin T. “Ben” Rouse, 88, passed away on the evening of November 9, 2017 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. Born March 24, 1929 in Indianapolis, he was the only son of Lawrence T. and Nanabelle Mincy Rouse .

Ben was a 1949 graduate of Manual High School and the following year married the love of his life, Joann Ford.

He spent the last several years of his life employed as Chief Engineer working for area hotels. A licensed pilot, Ben enjoyed watching television especially science fiction movies and Star Trek and Star Wars were his favorites. He loved music and particularly the music of Elvis Presley. Ben was also an inventor and builder of toys. Among his creations was “The ‘Kopter Kite” and “The Bomb Site”. Several years ago, he developed a prototype for an electronic robot and had meetings with the executives of Mattel Corporation and presented some of his ideas. A Born-again Christian, he and his wife had most recently attended the Meridian Street Church of God. Known to be a quiet man, Ben deeply loved his family and the time he could spend with them.

Ben is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Joann Rouse; his daughters, Pam (Chris) Aulerich and Cindy (Tim) Culp; his grandchildren, Kyle (Brooke) Aulerich, Kara Aulerich, Andrew (Sara) Weber, Adam (Lynn) Weber, Alex (Cris) Weber, Timothy Culp, Destiny Culp and Benjamin Culp as well as his great-grandchildren, Devon and Jack Aulerich, Marissa and Madison Dawes, Nathaniel Wright and Greyson Weber.

In addition to his parents, Ben is preceded in death by two children, Bryan and Debby Rouse.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 12:00 p.m., noon at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with his son-in-law, Reverend Tim Culp officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the hour of service at the mortuary.
