Blazek signs with Fighting Illini
Whiteland senior Mackenzie Blazek signed her letter of intent this week to play basketball at the University of Illinois in 2018-19.
Blazek, a 6-foot-2 center, was the Daily Journal’s Player of the Year last season and an Indiana Junior All-Star. The Fighting Illini were 9-22 last winter and 3-13 in the Big Ten, but they opened their 2017-18 schedule Friday night under new head coach Nancy Fahey.
