United Way offers help to families at Christmas

Families who need help getting Christmas for their children this year can apply for help.

The United Way of Johnson County is accepting applications from families.

One application will be reviewed for multiple programs that help parents get Christmas gifts for their children, including Shop with a Cop and Christmas Angels.

Parents are encouraged to apply through their child’s school. They also may apply on the following days at the United Way office, 594 Ironwood Drive, Franklin: 1 to 4 p.m. today, 3 to 6 p.m. Nov. 14 and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 16.

Applicants should bring a driver’s license or state identification, social security cards for all children and parents and verification of public assistance.  Other documents that will be accepted include a current bill or lease, birth certificates for children younger than six months old and verification of income.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 16.
