No arrests made yet in weekend shooting

A man was shot in Franklin this weekend during a dispute after another man was asked to leave a residence.

Tristan Lear, 21, was shot twice in the arm at a home at 1531 Younce St., north of downtown Franklin, just before 2 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital and later released in good condition, Franklin Police Chief Tim O’Sullivan said.

The person who fired the shots, Michael Lentz, 24, had come to the home to speak to a female, O’Sullivan said. Lear told him to leave, and as Lentz was leaving, an altercation began in a vehicle, O’Sullivan said. Lear was shot twice in the arm with a handgun.

A third person who had been at the home with Lear walked away after the shooting. He has been questioned. Lentz, a Johnson County resident, left in a vehicle.

He was found by police shortly after the shooting and cooperated with an interview, O’Sullivan said.

No one has been arrested, and the police investigation is being sent to the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office, which will decide what, if any, charges to file.
