MONCKS CORNER, S.C. — Authorities say a drive-by shooting at a home in South Carolina killed a man and that two men have been arrested in connection.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Joshua Scott Westall and 32-year-old Maurice Durell Wigfall were charged with several offenses including murder. The shooting killed 41-year-old Stephen Hutchins on Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office says in a Facebook post that Westall’s handgun was stolen by someone at the home earlier that morning. Authorities say he returned with Wigfall and fired gunshots at the house while driving past. Hutchins was shot while others inside escaped.

Sheriff Duane Lewis tells The Post and Courier of Charleston that multiple people frequented the home and Hutchins did not steal Westall’s gun.

It is unclear if Westall or Wigfall have lawyers.
