Police: Man battered, confined woman in home

A woman went to the hospital and a man was arrested after the woman told police she was being held in the garage of a Greenwood home.

Joshua R. Fountain, 35, Greenwood, was arrested on a charge of domestic battery and criminal confinement.

A woman called police just after 6 p.m. Tuesday and said she was being held in the garage of her home in the 800 block of Cherry Tree Lane, according to the police report.

She gave police the code to get inside and police found the woman locked in her car in the garage and Fountain outside the vehicle, the report said.

Both Fountain and the woman told police they had been arguing for hours.

At one point, the woman told police she wanted the car keys so she could leave, and that Fountain had grabbed her by the arm and pulled her off the bed and then climbed on top of her to hold her down. The woman got away and got into her vehicle, but Fountain disabled the garage door so she couldn’t open it, the report said.

The woman went to Franciscan Health Indianapolis to be checked out and was diagnosed with a separated shoulder, according to the report.

Fountain, 878 Cherry Tree Lane, was taken to the Johnson County jail and held on $2,200 bond.
